Video_Inspections Video Inspections
Water conservation surveys have shown that up to 30% of our drinking water is lost due to underground leaks. Owners of some properties we inspect don’t even know they are experiencing excessively high water bills until after the survey is completed. In most cases, once we complete the survey and repairs have been made, our clients encounter measurable savings within the first six months of their water bills—enough to offset the cost of the survey!

A water conservation survey is a three step process that can effectively determine if there is unintentional water loss in a property and it identifies the specific source needing repair.
Monitor real time water consumption over a given period of time, by means of an electronic flow recorder. Usually, this is done between the hours of 12am and 4am — the period of time when consumption should be at its lowest. We would expect to see the minimum flow halted at some point during this recording period, even if only for a few minutes. This interrupted flow is a good indicator of no underground or hidden leaks. A recording that shows constant meter activity during this period indicates unintentional water loss or leakage.
Once water loss is apparent, the next step in the survey process is to identify the location of any active leaks. This is done by systematically testing the underground piping system with electronic listening equipment. The hidden leaks will transmit ultra sonic sound waves through the surrounding piping and soil. These leaks can be tracked over large distances until the source is pinpointed.
After the source of the leaks has been found, the final step in this process is for your plumber to expose and repair all of the identified problems.
